The Son of Kybar the Butcher
During the great occupation none were more brutal or savage then the Goliath mercenary warlord known as Kybar, the Dracolich of Krovar used this Mercenary Company as elite terror troops, and they did their job well. He and his cadre of troops would strike with absolute ruthlessness and would so almost no mercy to those that they were sent against. So vicious and deadly were Kybar and his men that he was known as The Butcher, stories have circulated that Kybar’s lust for carnage even led to the practice of he and his men eating people of the places they attacked Part of this was reinforced by the name of the deadly great axe he wielded known as Kybar’s Teeth. For when Kybar showed you his teeth…you knew it was the last thing you would ever see. Most of these stories could be told because their were always a survivor or two, Kybar liked it that way…spread his legend by the few who lived to tell the tale. However it was usually only the women folk of a settlement that were spared just long enough to be used by Kybar’s men and the warlord himself, most were either cut down or the few that were captured were impaled on wooden stakes.
His tribe while not proud of their warmongering son. And when he returned home to show his tribe what he had accomplished they turned their backs on him and told him he was unwelcome in the tribe for the slaughter he had committed. Enraged by his own peoples reaction Kybar razed the village taking a few select women as unwilling concubines. One of them was the Chieftain’s daughter: Ulig.
Ulig became Kybar’s favorite plaything. He used and abused her as he saw fit. He would however make sure she was healed and rested before they every shared his tent. Ulig hated him, but she was with child after only a few meetings. She dare not act because her people revered children, they were a rare gift among her Tribe. It doesn’t matter who the father may be, the child was a sacred thing. So Ulig bided her time, soon she would be showing that she was with child and she was not sure how Kybar would react. She prepared and plotted with others of his harem, and planned her escape.
The night came and she was called for by Kybar. She had designed with help built a weapon she could conceal in her clothes and in the middle of Kybar’s passion she ended his life with by driving this weapon through his ear and into his brain. However she had little time to act, with her tribe sisters and a few others that had been collected made their attempt to escape. Ulig and her tribe sister Wessig were the only ones to escape alive. They were able to disappear and were not captured.
Ulig gave birth to Kyg’n, she named him after her Father, She and Wessig made their way to City of Garlach, where she worked and raised Kyg’n. She worked and kept a low profile, while Wessig made her presence more public. However men from Kybar’s now defunct company stopped in Garlach for some R & R, when they recognized Wessig. She was beaten and revealed where Ulig lived. Enraged and Excited to find the killer of their old Captain they descended on the home of Ulig. She told Kyg’n to remain hidden when the men attacked. She killed a few of them, but was soon overwhelmed and killed herself. However did has his mother said and stayed quiet, and remained hidden. Soon after Ulig’s body was paraded through the city and set in the center square to show that none may stand against armies of Krovar.
Kyg’n was lost. Wessig while she lived was too broken and battered and scared to raise Kyg’n she kicked him from their home and told him to find his own place. For the next eight years he lived on the streets of Garlach. He fell in with the other parentless children and begged, borrowed, or stole what he and they needed to survive. When he began to grow into his size and strength he became a enforcer of sorts for his new family the young thieves of Garlach.
The leader of this pack of street thieves was a young human named Richtor, he used Kyg’n to make sure things happened. However he never really cared for Kyg’n just used this massive Goliath to do what the other children couldn’t. However one night proved to be that they bit off more then they could chew.
